PIN (Personal Identification Number) Code
This is the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card PIN code which is only available from your network.
PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code
If you enter the wrong PIN Code more than 3-5 times you will require the PUK Code to unlock the SIM card. Once again this code is only available from your network.
Security/Unlock Code
The default unlock for most Nokia phones is 12345 unless you have changed it. Normally this code can only be reset by the Nokia Care Points. However some of the latest S60 models can be reset to the default code by reformatting the phone.
There have been cases of this code being changed by certain networks. When this is the case, the security code will be on the label on the box, close to the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) number. This number will be a 5 digit number but not necessarily marked as a security code.
Some S40 5th edition phones, such as the 6500 Slide or 6301, don't always have a preset lock code. In these cases, you will be prompted to create the code the first time you try to perform an action that needs one (such as clearing logs or restoring factory settings). You can also create the code from the Settings>Security>Access Codes menu.
Restriction Code
This is the code to remove networks restrictions (also known as a SIM lock) and is available from the network. See this post for instructions on how to use this code.
