New Nokia e72, after the disappointing Nokia E75 i really didn`t expect Nokia to release another unfinished phone!
Dont get me wrong, great Phone the E72, solid hardware, but it has the same memory problem found in other nokia devices. 42 M at start up. Tried to go on the internet with the build in browser, 2 big flash sites like CNN and sadly the memory was down to between 356 K to 1 M, and the phone didn´t react anymore. After shuting down the browser, the E72 had 42 M in free memory again. It's the same story when using Spotify or Youtube.
Is there any one else with the same problem? What will/can Nokia do about it?
Best regards

I have the same problem....I did a factory reset and that cleared memory - but after that I cannot create a mail exchange client. The phone gives an error of to many exchange mailboxes - dispite there is none created.....
- bad phone.....wait buying until the software are updated.....

I have the same issue. When I open a website the phone doesn't crash (so far at least), but it closes all other apps I have open and memory gets very low.
When you look at the specs on some Nokia sites, it says that available RAM is "around 80 MB".
Either that is a mistake (or false advertising if I were inclined to think in those terms), or we have a pre-production firmware version on our phones. Nokia needs to fix this immediately.
Also, *everyone* should give their firmware version when they report any bug, it will provide both us and Nokia with more info regarding the problems and help to spot any patters, which everyone will benefit from.
My firmware version is: 021.024.261.01
Language setting: 02.0111-Dec-2009 02:20 AM
I just wonder how come I get a "Memory Full" error when I have an application downloaded about 10MB data with the device just re-booted.
And the "Memory Full" error does not go off when I use other function such as internal web browser; even I closed that Application (I closed all applications be exact). Memory seems cannot be released by closing the applications.

I Am honestly gutted. I bought this phone as an upgrade from the Nokia E71, and the fact that it offers less free memory is really bugging me. I feel i've been ripped off!
I am considering returning this phone, otherwise could anyone here convince me that the E72 could 'magically be all repaired' by a single firmware update? Besides would a firmware really allow more free memory allocation? I seriously doubt it!
The Nokia E71 was not as powerful, but at least it had free ram allocated, so my programs/browser didn't close unexpectedly.
So, shall I return it.....should I wait? This is the debate I am going through right now. Such a shame, I was a huge fan of the E71.

I have the E72 since the launch day and am happy with it except for two aspecs
-GPS usage. Very low sensitivity, takes forever to fix, even using AGPS
-Memory
What's going on with the RAM usage? It boots to around 40 MB or less while my 6220 Classic has over twice that RAM free. I know the E series software is different and even the hardware has more going on but where is all the ram going?
After loading some apps and normal use I end up with 27 MB of RAM or so... this means that often applications will close and there will be errors, especially with ram hungry apps like Opera Mobile or Sygic Mobile.
I strongly doubt this can be fixed by firmware. It's a pity really and makes me wonder if I should go for a WiMo device.

i'm totally disappointed with nokia e72. i think my money is totally wasted. my phone's internal memory is getting reduced at an approximate rate of 1 to 2 mb per day. what may be behind this. i rushed to two nokia care centres in new delhi. i don't know whick kind of people are there. they don't even know the basics about mobile phones. they updated my phone software twice. it didn't help the problem. the reducing memory is shown in other files in the memory scan result. i could not get these other files. it's increasing day by day. one great scientist in the nokia care suggested that it's because of the missed calls and call log. i don't know what to do. please help me if anyone knows about it

Despite all the major problems with the E72 I have, for some reason the memory isn't an issue for me (021.024 firmware).
Maybe it's because I have very little installed other than what came out of the box, Sports Tracker, Google Maps and Gravity.
I'd steer clear of any 3rd party apps that leave things running in the background as these will eat memory.
My old N80 used to be terrible for memory. Open a web site and click on a link... Memory Full. The E72 hasn't given me that yet.
